Boards and Commissions
The Board of Commissioners makes appointments to the following Boards and Commissions:

  • Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (AMATS) Policy Committee, Citizen Involvement Committee and Technical Advisory Committee (each committee meets separately at various times and locations);
  • Building Board of Appeals (meets the 3rd Monday, 3:00 p.m., PCAB 7th Floor Public Meeting Room);
  • Community Corrections Board (meetings scheduled as needed);

  • Community Plan (quarterly meetings, PCAB 7th Floor Public Meeting Room);

  • Emergency Management Agency Advisory Board (meets the 1st Wednesday, 8:00 a.m., Portage County Justice Center);

  • Farmland Preservation Advisory Board (meetings are scheduled as needed),

  • Flood Variance Board (meetings are scheduled as needed);

  • Local Emergency Planning Commission (meets the 1st Wednesday, 9:00 a.m., Portage County Justice Center);

  • Mental Health & Recovery Board (meets the 2nd Monday, 6:30 p.m., 1640 Franklin Avenue Suite 100, Kent OH 44240);

  • Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MR/DD) (meets the 3rd Thursday, 4:30 p.m., 2606 Brady Lake Road, Ravenna OH 44266);

  • Portage Area Regional Transit Authority (PARTA) Board (meets the 4th Thursday, 7:00 p.m., 2000 Summit Road, Kent OH 44240);

  • Portage County District Library Board of Trustees (meets 3rd Thursday, 5:00 p.m., Garrettsville Branch);

  • Portage County Port Authority (meetings scheduled as needed);

  • Portage County Regional Airport Authority Board of Trustees (meets the 2nd Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., Portage Flight Center St. Rt. 44, Ravenna OH);

  • Portage-Geauga Joint Juvenile Detention Center (meetings scheduled as needed);

  • Portage Metropolitan Housing Authority Board of Trustees (meet the last Thursday, 11:30 a.m., 2832 St Rt 59, Ravenna OH 44266);

  • Public Defender Commission (meetings scheduled as needed);

  • Robinson Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees (meetings scheduled as needed);

  • Tax Incentive Review Council (meets annually at the end of February or March at various locations);

  • Workforce Policy Committee (bi-monthly meetings the 4th Thursday, 7:30 a.m., Robinson Memorial Hospital, Ravenna OH 44266);

  • Youth Advisory Council (bi-monthly meetings the 2nd Wednesday, 12:00 noon, various locations).
